DownloadIn 2020, City Historian Bill Lemon and the La Verne Historical Society published La Verne as part of the Arcadia Publishing Company Images of America series. In seven chapters, the history of this delightful city with a small-town feel is told through captioned images. Starting with the days of Mexican ranchos, La Verne’s history is revealed as it began as the town of Lordsburg, expanded as the Southern California citrus industry drove its economy, then evolved after World War II into a suburban setting of houses that replaced citrus groves and brought new opportunities to the region. La Verne, with its proud association with the University of La Verne, has retained its sense of community and time gone by, even as it faces increasing growth and diversity.
La Verne is available for $20 and is signed by the author. Contact Sherry Best at (909) 596-4679 or lvhs@lavernehistoricalsociety.org to reserve your piece of history and educate yourself about beautiful La Verne. Pre-orders are accepted.
